Building Space for Reflection Before Connection

By LaTanya Green, Founder and Visionary, Mindful Girl Love
What began as an idea for a dating app evolved into something more intentional. Chamber Member LaTanya Green shares how listening to her community, reflecting on her own experiences and remaining open to a new direction helped shape Mindful Girl Love—a reflection-first platform designed to support more meaningful connection.

When I first began working on Mindful Girl Love, I thought I was building a dating app.
The more conversations I had—and the more I reflected on my own experiences—the more I realized something felt incomplete. Many of us weren’t struggling because we lacked places to meet people. We were often trying to build connection without first understanding where we were emotionally, what we actually wanted, or whether we had the capacity to connect at all.
That realization changed the direction of the product.
From an Initial Idea to a More Intentional Platform

Today, Mindful Girl Love is a reflection-first platform designed for sapphic women, non-binary people, and trans folks. Rather than beginning with profiles or swiping, it begins with a simple question:
Where are we today?
The goal isn’t to encourage more connection.
It’s to create room for more intentional connection.

The experience begins with a daily check-in. Members are invited to pause, notice what they’re carrying, and respond to thoughtful reflection prompts. Some reflections stay completely private, becoming part of a personal journal that grows over time.
From there comes Align.
Rather than asking who we want to meet, Align asks what feels honest today. Some days that may mean feeling open to conversation. Other days it may mean recognizing that rest, solitude, or simply paying attention to ourselves is enough.
There isn’t a right answer.
The app is designed to make space for awareness before action.
Building Community Without the Pressure to Perform
For those who choose, there’s also a community reflection feed where members can anonymously share reflections with others. It’s intentionally simple—less about performance and more about recognizing ourselves in one another’s experiences.
The community isn’t built around popularity or endless interaction.
It’s built around reflection.
That shift—from connection first to reflection first—has become the heart of Mindful Girl Love.
An Invitation to Help Shape What Comes Next
Right now, we’re inviting a small first wave of people into Mindful Girl Love through our Android early access. This version is intentionally focused on the foundational experiences: Reflect and Align. I’m keeping this phase small because I want to learn from the people it’s being built for before expanding the platform further.
If you’re a sapphic woman, non-binary person, or trans person who values thoughtful connection and would like to help shape what’s next, I’d love for you to be part of it. Your feedback will directly influence how the app evolves.

Sometimes the most meaningful place to begin isn’t with finding someone else.
It’s with taking a moment to understand ourselves first.
