Supporting Katy Pride: Stand with Love, Not Fear
The Greater Houston LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce stands in strong support of our member, Katy Pride, following the abrupt and disappointing cancellation of their scheduled Pride Celebration by Typhoon Texas with less than 72 hours before the event, citing “security concerns.”
The Greater Houston LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce stands in strong support of our member, Katy Pride, following the abrupt and disappointing cancellation of their scheduled Pride Celebration by Typhoon Texas with less than 72 hours before the event, citing “security concerns.”
This last-minute decision, made without collaboration or discussion of solutions, sends a discouraging message to the LGBTQ+ community and allies who have worked tirelessly to create a space for celebration, inclusion, and unity.
Katy Pride was founded to uplift love, equality, and community, values that align deeply with the Chamber’s mission and the vibrant diversity of our region. While this cancellation is disheartening, it will not silence the spirit of Pride or the resilience of the Katy community.
New Location: In collaboration with Commissioner Lesley Briones, Precinct 4, the festival has been relocated to Bear Creek Rodeo Arena, 3230 Hwy 6, Houston, TX 77084. Visit katypride.org to stay updated and follow them on social media.
