Longtime Community Leader Takes on New Role with the Chamber

Jack Berger takes on expanded role as Director of Programming & Events



“I have been involved with some of the biggest and best events in our community and I am looking forward to bringing those experiences to the Chamber's ever-growing calendar of events. Our membership deserves quality programming and I hope to ensure that the Chamber remains a leader in this field." 

HOUSTON, TX (February 2, 2023) – The Greater Houston LGBT Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Jack Berger (he/him) is taking on an expanded role with the Chamber as the Director of Programming & Events. He assumed this role on February 1, 2023.  He previously served as the Director of Sales & Business Development and prior to that was the Vice Chair on the Chamber’s Board of Directors.

Jack is widely recognized in the LGBTQ+ community as a leader and he has given back through his service to other nonprofits including serving as the current Board President of the Executive Professional Association of Houston (EPAH).  He was president of Bunnies on the Bayou and has served on the boards of the Bayou City Performing Arts (Gay Men’s Chorus), OutReach United and the Lesbian Health Initiative.

Previously, Jack was with OutSmart Magazine, where he spent 17 years as the sales and marketing manager. He spent the first 25 years of his professional career in sports marketing.  Jack moved to Houston in 1987 to serve as the Executive Director of the Greater Houston Sports Foundation and was involved in Houston’s bids for the Super Bowl, World Cup, and numerous national championships.

“With the growth trajectory ahead for the Chamber and now adding Jack to this new role, the organization is poised for even bigger and better things ahead,” said Tammi Wallace, Chamber Co-Founder, President & CEO. “To have a community leader like Jack step up and take on this new role, especially considering his background and experience, will take the Chamber to a whole new level.  Jack has dedicated countless hours to the Chamber over the years and he is invested in the mission and success of the Chamber and supporting our members.”

“Over the years, the Chamber has become a leader in producing high quality events and programming,” said Shenice Brown, Board Chair, Greater Houston LGBT Chamber of Commerce. “We appreciate Jack’s longtime dedication to the Chamber over the years and now taking on this new role.  With his events planning experience and his longtime community engagement coupled with his enthusiasm and commitment to the Chamber, I look forward to seeing what he will accomplish in this role and the value he will bring to our members.”

In this new role, Jack will oversee all programming and events for the Chamber. He will manage existing programming and events as well as launch new programming.
